This position serves as an entry level role for an aspiring engineer desiring to join the S&C Sales Force.
The ideal individual for this position must currently reside in the Pacific Northwest of the US.
This individual will be trained both in the field with current Territory Managers and at S&C headquarters in Chicago where they will gain exposure to S&C products as well as various departments within S&C.
This training will allow the engineer to gain understanding of S&C product and service offerings as well as knowledge of how S&C solutions apply to the industry.
After the training period and a suitable territory is identified this person will have the opportunity to become an outside Sales Engineer with direct account responsibility.
During the training period, in addition to rotation between departments in Chicago, there will be travel to sales territories to better understand the day-to-day activities of an outside sales team member for S&C.
There will also be opportunities to attend conferences and exhibitions during the training period.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
oBecoming fluent in the products and applications of S&C solutionsoLearning insight selling techniques and executing those techniques as part of promotional efforts to utility customers, lunch and learns to consultants/users, and presentations at industry eventsoPartnering with inside sales support, product specialists, operations, and other key team members to support the needs of company and customeroProviding outside sales team with support as neededoTraveling as necessary to both learn how a territory is managed and experience the many facets of customer interaction and supportoParticipating at conferences and exhibitions as assignedTo select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:
oBachelor of Science Degree in a technical field, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; or equivalent experience.
oExcellent presentation skills, including the use of Microsoft PowerPoint.
oOrganizational, verbal and written communication skills.
oA fundamental technical background gained through product design, application engineering, or similar experienceMAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDSoStanding:
Occasional 4-6 hour duration at trade shows or job sites.
oLifting:
Occasional 50 pounds (product samples, literature, etc.
)oWalking:
Regular walking of moderate distances at customer and S&C locations.
oCarrying:
Product samples and literature ranging in size.
oBending:
Use of product samples and display trailers.
oReaching:
Use of product samples and display trailers.
oHandling:
Use of product samples and display trailers.
oEnvironment:
Work performed in a regular office environment but may require time spend in a manufacturing environment or customer site.
